Christina & Jake | Homewood Venue | Asheville, NC
I’ve been to a lot of weddings.
I’ve been to good ones, great ones, mind blowing ones and of course, bad ones too. They’re all valuable experience both for me and for the people hosting them.. and i’m proud to say that i’ve walked away from many many weddings with people who became friends. Actual friends.
This is a weird job. Every job you do is probably the most expensive, stressful, planned for day that they may ever have. What is just another Saturday wedding for me, is the most important day of their marriage and it’s something I always tell my self when I get out of my truck and walk in the door to get started… “what a freaking honor to be a part of someone’s life in this way.”
No matter how many times i’ve done it.. I still smile during the vows, try to tell the best raunchy groomsman jokes, and since April.. tear up during those Father/Daughter dances.
While I miss having weekends with my family sometimes and I tire of how people feel the need to check imaginary “wedding shot list boxes” I still get excited and emotional at every single wedding.
This one though.. this one started with a really cool engagement shoot on Black Balsam in the freezing cold like an eternity ago. Covid world was still very much a thing and to stand on top of a mountain and soak up the freedom of nature was healing for all of us. I knew on literal impact that Jake and Christina were special. Not because they could be Victoria’s Secret models or because they pose really well for a dumb camera, but because they were REAL. We talked about the highs & lows of life and relationships and didn’t try to fluff over that hard parts of anything that was going on in the world.
These two are intelligent, kind & clearly mean a lot to a LOT of other really fantastic people. In my opinion, their wedding was a celebration of how they give to others.
So here are some photos of these two wonderful people who are so hopelessly in love with one another that I don’t think I gave them one photographic directional cue.
Congratulations, y’all!
