Family Things. | Fuji x100V Review

I love the Fuji x100V.

It is my all time, best ever, most loved, most used, most amazing camera that I have ever had.

It’s all the good things.

  • Portable

  • Built in presets that are tweakable to your liking

  • Live view and optical viewfinders for whatever flavor of shooting you’re in the mood for

  • Clean & classy looking

  • Touch screen for shooting and navigating menus

  • Fixed, 23mm lens (35mm equivalent on its cmos sensor)

  • On lens aperture controls (a Fuji standard)

  • Little on camera flash for when it’s needed. Not an ugly pop up one on top, but just a little front flash. Adorable.

My main con would be the battery life. I wish that Fuji would revamp the batteries that work on this camera and the XT3 to be more efficient, thus allowing me to use my older kit gear more efficiently, and longer.

The Fuji x100V is my daily driver. It’s small enough that I can take it most anywhere with me. I keep it in a little pouch, with my Apple SD > lightning card reader. I use the card reader to instantly dump images off of my camera on to my phone, because let’s face it… it’s way faster and easier than messing with the Fuji app. AND ALSO, if you’re trying to give pics to someone else (they’ve got to have an iphone, in my case) you can just pop the card reader in, and THEY can choose which ones they want for themselves.

It’s MAGICAL.

All of the images below were taken on the Fuji x100V over the past couple of days. I’m trying to photograph all of the little, seemingly mundane things that happen in my home.

I know that one day, the painted rocks won’t be on my tables anymore. Getting my family together to play Super Mario Monopoly might not be so fun for everyone (maybe because i’m a professional cheater at monopoly though…) and the days of my kids being kind and friendly with each other, will maybe lessen as we hit the teen years.

I don’t want to forget any of these things.

So I carry my camera around everywhere.

These are great example shots, because I didn’t spend any time at all really worrying about whether or not they were “perfect.” I just quickly framed and shot while the moments lasted.

I have been using the “Classic Chrome” profile with these settings:

These are all .jpeg’s straight out of camera.
